Do I have to know a Freemason already?
No. Complete the contact form and we will get in touch. There is no obligation, and you will not be asked to decide anything at that first conversation.
Who can join this lodge?
Frankley Beeches is a Craft lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England. Membership is open to men aged 18 or over, of any background, who believe in a Supreme Being. That belief can sit within any faith. You should be joining of your own free will, and be of good repute.
Can women join Frankley Beeches?
This lodge, like the rest of the United Grand Lodge of England, admits men. Women have their own organisations. The two with which the United Grand Lodge of England works most closely are the Order of Women Freemasons and Freemasonry for Women. Their details are on the United Grand Lodge’s joining page.
Is Freemasonry a religion?
No. It is not a religion, and it is not a substitute for one. It asks members to believe in a Supreme Being, and it expects them to follow their own faith. Religion is not debated in the lodge.
What happens at a meeting?
We meet on a weekday evening. The meeting is traditional and orderly, and it is followed by dinner, which is where much of the friendship is made. We do not describe the meeting itself on this website. A member will explain what to expect when you enquire.
How often would I need to come?
Roughly monthly, from October to April, on a weekday evening, with dinner afterwards. There are also visits to other lodges, which are optional. Family and work come first. We will confirm the dates for the season when you get in touch.
What does it cost?
There is an annual subscription, and members pay for their dinner. We will tell you the figures before you decide anything. You should be able to afford membership without it becoming a burden on you or your family. We do not publish the lodge’s fees on this website.
I am not from Birmingham. Does that matter?
No. Members come from across south Birmingham and beyond. The lodge meets at Ashlar House in Kings Heath.
Will my name be published?
No. We do not publish the names of living members on this website.
What is expected of a member?
Integrity, friendship, respect and service. Be honest, be a good friend to the other members, treat people decently, and be willing to give a little time to the lodge and to charity.
The qualifications above follow the United Grand Lodge of England. Their joining page is at
